Widecombe-in-the-Moor is a small Devonshire village set within the dramatic and moody landscape of Dartmoor, home to over five hundred and sixty people. The church of St Pancras dates back to the 14th Century, and has a magnificent 120’ tower, which is only one of the interesting features of this ‘Cathedral of the Moor’. Time it right and the Widecombe Fair will be taking place, or possibly the splendour of the Moor will bewitch those who set off on a journey of discovery of ancient Moorland, and wildlife, why not explore the remains of the Medieval Village of Hound Tor, or perhaps the Bronze Age Settlement of Grimspound will satisfy the curious. Maybe a thunderous Waterfall, woodland walks, and the chance to meet animals will entice a visit to Becky Falls. Younger visitors will be busy as there are 150 animals at the Miniature Pony and Animal Farm to meet, or perhaps Buckfast Butterfly and Otter Sanctuary will tick all of the boxes. For an insight into the intriguing art of glass blowing it has to be House Of Marbles, or if it’s Tea Pots all the way then Cardew Teapot Factory is where a tour may be rounded off with a visit to the treasure trove of a shop,
