Lying in the county of Warwickshire and close to the border with Northamptonshire the village of Kilsby is an attractive village with evidence of Iron Age and Roman settlements. The local towns of Rugby and Daventry are nearby with Northampton and Coventry both less than half an hour away and is conveniently placed for the M6,M1 and M45. 1642 was an important year for the village as it is recorded that the first blood of the Civil War was spilt here, the next most important event to occur was in the 1830’s when work was commenced on the Kilsby Tunnel. It was the railways and the landowners who insisted that the new railway line did not run close to their property and this created the need for the tunnel to be built through the Kilsby Ridge and formed part of the London and Birmingham Railway and is today the 18th longest railway tunnel in the UK. Today the village plays host to a number of small local shops, a few restaurants, hotel and public house with this vibrant community enjoying a wide range of local amenities. Of note today is St Faith’s Church amongst many other fine buildings that grace this fine village.
