Bampton is a small unspoilt Cumbrian village, in the Lowther Valley, surrounded by a patchwork of green countryside on the edge of the Lake District National Park, home to just over 260 people. This quiet pocket of Cumbria and surrounding area will please the most discerning visitor, there's a real chance to get close to the wonders of Mother Nature whether it's exploring the Fells, lakes, or thunderous waterfall at Aira Force. Bravehearts can climb the highest mountain in England Scafell Pike, or for something less strenuous Lowther Leisure and Wildlife Park has 150 acres of stunning parkland to enjoy, smaller visitors will love the Puppet Show, and the fabulous Circus is sure to dazzle. For a touch of history Shap Abbey is a legacy from the 12th Century, turn back the hands of time at Penrith Castle, and follow in the footsteps of James1 and Charles 1 with a visit to Brougham Castle. Museum lovers can unlock secrets at the Cumbria Constabulary Museum where uniforms, truncheons and intriguing exhibits tells an arresting story. Possibly the impressive items on display at Cold Harbour Mill and Wool Museum will be irrisistable, and if it's tea pots all the way, it has to be Wetheriggs Country Pottery, still powered by steam.
