Billingham is a busy town in County Durham in the north east of England, home to over thirty five thousand people. The older part of the town is where the Anglo Saxon Tower at St Cuthbert's church rises impressively. It has an interesting history from its salt production which reached its height in the 15th and 16th Centuries, and later when it was decided that a large ammonia plant would be built to assist in the 1st world war, this led to an increase in the population when workers moved here. Today's visitors can enjoy a vast array of shops in the town centre, a theatre, ice rink and leisure complex, or there is always the delights on offer at Billingham Beck Valley Country Park.
