Tarporley is to be found in the North West on the fertile Cheshire Plains, a predominantly rural area renowned for its dairy cattle and lush green meadows which give rise to some of the finest local produce in England. Some of the best views of Tarporley are to be found from nearby Beeston Castle, set high on the Mid Cheshire Ridge this viewpoint offers some great views of the surrounding countryside as well. Tarporley received a Royal Charter in 1292 and by 1297 was recorded as being a borough with a mayor and a market. The village developed along its high street as it was a favoured route for travellers between London and Chester. The18th and 19th century saw more development along the high street by local innkeepers as more travellers utilised the route with the coming of the Chester and Ellesmere Canal and the railway station at Beeston. Today Tarporley remains a popular village, it is close to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester, situated in the Cheshire countryside it retains its rural feel and this accounts for its popularity. Certainly a charming village in which to live and for the visitor there is plenty to enjoy both in the village and the surrounding countryside.
