Located to the North of Crewe Wettenhall is a small village boasting two public houses, one housed in a 17th century building whilst the other is a favourite of CAMRA, the village is to be found in the middle of the Cheshire countryside. Located in the countryside this is a popular location with ramblers and visitors who can take the time to enjoy the local lane and byways – as well as a little local refreshment! Of interest is the village church, originally built around 1818 was replaced by the present Church of St David’s in 1870 by subscription, some of the brickwork is inscribed with initials and this remains a bit of a mystery as the inscriptions do not tally with the names of those who subscribed, today the church serves a dual purpose both as a church and meeting hall serving the mainly local farming community.
