Little Gransden is a village in Cambridgeshire with attractive thatched cottages and a 13th Century church. In the Summer the airfield bursts into life and opens it’s gates wide, as there is an exciting Air Show, with over two hundred vintage vehicles, craft fair, and even fairground rides on offer to complete a terrific day out. Or why not visit Wimpole Hall built in the 18th Century, a majestic masterpiece sitting in a wooded park, with beautiful lake that mirrors it’s surroundings perfectly, the house gives a fascinating insight into life ‘below stairs‘. Or there is always Wimpole Hall Farm home to cattle, sheep, pigs and goats, where you can collect eggs, or even groom the donkey. The enchanting Swiss Garden covers ten acres, with rare trees, a romantic Swiss Cottage that nestles in the centre, complete with grotto and fernery makes for a delightful interlude. The pages of history are turned at the wonders on offer in nearby Cambridge, from the Fitzwilliam Museum housing 14th Century paintings, to the vibrant Market with canopied stalls. No visit is complete without a trip on a ‘Punt’ along the River, where the beautiful scenery would put any film set to the test.
