Bristol International Airport was built in 1957 although it’s conception happened back in 1930 when a group of business men joined together, before it moved to it’s present location. It is situated just eight miles from Bristol City Centre, and although a small airport, it served over 5.8 million passengers in 2007 who took off to 118 destinations in 27 countries. It is well served by trains, coaches, buses, and taxis, or if driving there are a choice of Long Stay and Short Stay Car Parks, Valet Parking is also on offer and helps to take the stress of travelling away, a cheaper option would be to book an hotel accommodation/deal where it’s usually free or discounted. Two motorways serve the airport, if travelling on the M4 exit at Junction 18 and follow the A4 to the city centre, or on the M5 exit at Junction 19 and follow the M32/A32 into the city centre. The Airport has 47 Check In Desks and eight gates, hopefully there will be time to enjoy one of the restaurants, café’s or bars on offer, or perhaps the VIP Lounges will tempt with the promise of comfortable surroundings. If there is time the choice of Duty and Tax Free Shopping, Newsagent, Chemist or Travel Agent will lighten any wallet or purse, or how about a visit to the Games Zone, situated on the first floor of the Departure Lounge offers a chance to try out arcade games, computer rides and even video games For younger travellers there is always the Soft Play area and when the time comes there is Baby and Parent facilities for that all important nappy change. Disabled travellers are well catered for with accessible lifts, toilets and ramps provided, Braille signs and Special Assistance points are located throughout the airport
