Streatley On Thames is a pretty village on the banks of the river, where walking along the paths or climbing aboard one of the many boat trips puts smiles back on faces, or perhaps the swinging of a golf club with panoramic views tempts, then Goring and Streatley Golf Club boasts 18 holes, a shop and tuition from a pro. Or how about Beale Park with a collection of Meerkats, Prairie Dogs, Owls and of course ‘The Little Tikes Village‘. The Living Rainforest is a magical wonder with lizards, birds and butterflies, look out for the giant water lilies, Piranha fish, or the unusual emerald dove. Or how about Basildon Park, a stunning Mansion built in 1776 with it’s elegant staircase, and unusual octagon room, if that’s not enough then the ‘behind the scenes’ exhibition on the making of Pride and Prejudice is sure to please as this was home to ‘Mr Bingley‘. If the thrill of riding on a steam train excites then Cholsey and Wallingford Railway is for you, whether you enjoy the Museum, shop or coffee in a 19th Century Carriage a pleasurable day is promised. Streatley On Thames is a gem of the most precious kind.
