Situated in the South East of England near Pevensey, Battle and historic Hastings. The magnificent 15th Century Castle is mirrored in a huge Moat, the stunning vision whisks you back in time to Medieval England where Knights and Damsels were seen. The Castle has a Nature Trail, Elizabethan gardens, children’s play area and even a Science Centre. At certain times of the year a Medieval battle occurs where 1,000 Knights and Bowmen lay siege to the castle where Anne Of Cleves visited and smugglers hid their bounty. The church of All Saints whose tower dates back to the 12th Century is a pleasing experience. The village cottages and houses some of date back to the 16th and 17th Centuries is a gift for painters and photographers, the cottage ‘Bedlam’ was the old lunatic asylum. The area is famed for ‘Trug’ making, Queen Victoria was presented with a special Trug made with silver nails at the great Exhibition 1851 and the tradition is still carried out today. Or if windmills are your thing then a visit to the second tallest post mill which was built in 1814 won’t disappoint.
