This sedate seaside resort with an array of Victorian buildings and majestic gardens that run into Hastings only a mile away.A good place to start is the promenade why not walk to the Victorian Pier or time it right and watch the yachts and boats on a Sunday. There are wonderful gardens, West Marina Gardens has an 18 hole putting course and bowling green set within seaside gardens, or Church Wood and Robsack Wood, this very pretty coppiced wooded area with streams and meadows and meandering footpaths. Or try the Alexandra Park that has a boating lake, bowling green, tennis courts, miniature railway, play area, woodland, bandstand and even a fishing reservoir…this really is a tremendous place to spend some time. No visit should be taken without a trip to see Hastings Castle just a mile away perched up high looking out to see, with the twisting narrow streets and timbered houses you will be spoilt for choice as there is also St Clements Caves where smuggling history is brought to life or the lovely cliff railway that’s been taking travellers to the top of the cliffs since 1891, a truly delicious place to visit.
