Glenshee is a hamet in the Perth and Kinross region of Scotland situated at the head of the Highland Glen Shee in the heart of Scotland. This is an area well-known in Scottish folklore with myths and legends from King Arthur to the ancient Cateran warriors believed to have walked these paths, even the name Glenshee comes from the Gaelic ‘Gleann Shith’ meaning ‘Glen of the Fairies.’ The ancient hamlet has a strong Pictish and medieval past and is surrounded by historic landmarks including castles, palaces, battlefields and ancient monuments. With its spectacular rugged landscapes, rolling heather clad hills, rushing burns, deep gorges and idyllic glens abundant with wildlife, Glenshee is a popular holiday centre attracting tourists all year round, there is a selection of accommodation from hotels to a traveller’s hostel, shops and amenities and place to eat out. Glenshee is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts with hill-walking for all levels, numerous cycle-trails, angling, shooting and golfing on one of the highest golf courses in Britain, there are also a selection of whiskey distilleries nearby offering tours and tasting. Sitting on the slopes of the Cairnwell, the Glenshee Ski Centre is Scotland’s largest winter sports centre; it operates from December to Easter depending on the snow-fall and offers skiing and snowboarding with 36 runs, 21 lifts and qualified instructors available for lessons
