St Fillans is situated 6km from Comrie on the east shore of Loch Earn, in the central Highlands, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. St Fillans is a small traditional Scottish village with interesting ancient history and picturesque surroundings making it an ideal loch-side resort. Loch Earn is glacial basin, flowing east to the River Earn, through Strathearn to the River Tay. Ben Vorlich stands 985m high and is popular with climbers. St Fillan has an underground Hydro-electric power station. The settlement was previously known as Meikleport or Port of Lochearn, re-named by the Drummond family in 1817. East of the village lies the Pictish 7th century Fort of Dundurn, parts of the walls are still visible, artefacts found after an excavation in 1970 include a decorated leather shoe. Between The village and the fort lie the ruins of pre-reformation St Fillan chapel dating back to c1300. On the south edge lies Ardvorlich House, home of the Stewarts since 1589. The village has shops, hotels and local amenities; it is popular tourist resort for walking, fishing and Golf, there is also a rock, according to folklore, where fairies live. Loch Earn is a water-sport centre and there is a marina and caravan park on the south shore at Artrostan.
