East of the village lies the Pictish 7th century Fort of Dundurn, parts of the walls are still visible, artefacts found after an excavation in 1970 include a decorated leather shoe. Between The village and the fort lie the ruins of pre-reformation St Fillan chapel dating back to c1300. On the south edge lies Ardvorlich House, home of the Stewarts since 1589. The village has shops, hotels and local amenities; it is popular tourist resort for walking, fishing and Golf, there is also a rock, according to folklore, where fairies live.
