Staines is a riverside town in the County Of Surrey, home to fifty two and a half thousand people. Once favoured by the Romans who built a bridge crossing the river, although the one seen today replaces much earlier ones, a gentle saunter along the Thames Path unveils Mother Nature’s creations on the way to Runnymead, where King John signed the Magna Carta. Or why not climb aboard one of the many boat trips on offer and sail to Hampton Court, where the Tudor splendour of Henry V111’s Palace is set within stunning gardens and Parkland. Whether the Tudor Kitchens will please, or perhaps it will be the elegance of the legacy left by William and Mary who commissioned Christopher Wren to weave his magic……….. The town has many shopping options from the Two Rivers Shopping Centre, Elmsleigh, to the bustling High Street and Market, or for an interesting story waiting to be told there is always Spelthorne Museum, where exhibits range from Roman wonders, to a fire engine that dates back to 1738. Or how about the splendour of the Georgian townhouse that’s home to Chertsey Museum, where many treasures are on display including a Viking Sword. For the great outdoors there is Virginia Water Lake where stunning scenery gladdens any heart, or perhaps Windsor Castle is more for you, where history rewinds over 900 years……..
