Thames Ditton is a pretty village perfectly placed on the banks of the River Thames, in the county of Surrey, and it is home to just under six thousand people. It has an interesting past which dates far back in time; there is a delightful mix of architecture from across the centuries including pleasing Clapboard cottages from Tudor times, Georgian elegance, the remains of a Bronze Age Barrow on Giggs Hill Green, and a rewarding array of pubs, restaurants, bars and a wide choice of interesting places to stay nearby. Agriculture, boat building, the forging of Bronze a legacy of which can still be seen today proudly on display across the world, and the provision of staff to the nearby Palace of Hampton Court all helped in the growth of the village. St Nicholas church has a stunning riverside setting and dates back to Norman times, there are excellent shops arranged along the High Street, although the historic market town of Kingston is near, and just seventeen miles or so is the centre of London. Visitors can stroll along the river bank, enjoy the colourful Regatta, Marina, or cross over the impressive Suspension Bridge which was built in 1939 that links with Thames Ditton Island.
