Staffin is a small crofting and fishing village positioned on the north eastern edge of the Hebridean Island of Skye, in Scotland. The village has an intriguing history dating back centuries and is reached by journeying across a narrow road which spans the Stenscholl River. Attractive white washed stone cottages and houses are scattered around Staffin Bay which has far reaching views across to Staffin, and Flodigarry Islands. Hill walkers and climbers are drawn to this quiet village as the Trotternish Peninsular and the dramatic pinnacles of the Quiraing Mountain Ridge nearby offers spectacular scenery, and strange geological formations of columns of black basalt on Kilt Rock which the area is renowned for. There are a handful of comfortable B&B's and a couple of hotels for those visitors who wish to stay awhile in this Gaelic speaking village, a post office, two shops with a vast array of goods, and three restaurants offering tasty fayre. A short stroll will lead to Staffin Beach where the legacy from a time long since forgotten is revealed with the largest Dinosaur footprints ever found in Scotland, and, as it is only 19 miles or so from Portree which is the main town on the Island it's superbly placed.
