Brora is a small village in east Sutherland in the Highlands of Scotland, situated on the coast of the Moray Firth. Archaeological studies uncovered ancient inhabitants with arrowheads dating from 3700BC, Pictish Towers and Hillforts dating from 8th century BC including Duchary Roch Fort situated above Loch Brora, Ben Griam Beg and Dun Creich lying south-east of Bonar Bridge. Brora is a coastal resort popular with tourists, golfers and fishers. Brora has hotels and a caravan-site and is an excellent base for exploring the area. The village centre has mainly grey-stone buildings; interesting features include the Memorial Clock Tower, the museum and the small harbour, there are a few shops, restaurants and cafes. Attractions include the18-hole links golf course designed in 1923 which runs parallel with the beautiful sandy beach. Clynelish Malt Whiskey Distillery built in 1819 stands north of the village. Activities include fishing on the sea, Loch Brora and the river, bowling, tennis, nature watching and many walks in the surrounding hills. Nearby is the Glenmorangie Distillery, Dornoch Cathedral and a working watermill and pottery shop in Tain. Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve has a visitor centre and guided walks. Dolphins, whales and seals can also be observed in their natural habitat in the Moray Firth.
