Garve is a small village in the Highlands of Scotland situated 10 miles west of Dingwall at the eastern end of Loch Garve, surrounded by moorland and rugged mountains. Garve is a popular tourist resort with self-catering cottages, B&B’s, campsites and hotels in and around the area. Garve is a tranquil rural community with shops, local amenities and a railway station on the Kyle of Lochalsh line. The village is ideal for hill-walkers, climbers, anglers and nature-watchers with spectacular views of the impressive Torridon Mountains, scenic walks and rivers and lochs abundant with trout and salmon. The ferry to the Western Isles operates from here. Garve is ideally situated as a base for touring the Highlands with the Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer only 6 miles away and the holiday centre of Loch Ness approximately 19 miles away. The Benromach Whiskey Distillery is at Forres and there is a selection of golf courses in the area. Local attractions include Urquhart Castle at Loch Ness along with a variety of Monster Cruises and Exhibitions. There are also boat tours operating on the Moray Firth to spot wildlife in their natural habitat these include dolphins, seals, whales, otters and a variety of birds.
