Whitebridge is a rural village in the Highlands of Scotland in Inverness situated at the foot of the Monadhliath Mountain Range, 3 miles from the shores of Loch Ness. Archaeological studies have found the area to have been inhabited as far back as 5-6000 years with Neolithic people, Beaker People, Ancient Picts and Celtic Clans. The original bridge in Whitebridge, can still be seen today, it was built in the 18th century by General Wade and his soldiers, who were responsible for building the new road systems. Wade and his soldiers would stay at the King’s House in Whitebridge when they were stationed in the Highlands. After the King’s House burned down the Whitebridge Hotel was built on the site in 1899. This wild unspoilt area has hotels and a variety of holiday accommodation and is a popular with tourists. Whitebridge is surrounded by beautiful scenery, rolling hills, woodlands, lochs and an abundance of wildlife it is ideal for walkers, cyclists, bird and nature-watchers. Attractions include fishing for brown trout, salmon and sea-salmon, stalking on the local estates, pony-trekking, riding, wild-life-trips, boating, windsurfing, golfing, mountain-bike hire and off-roading. Nearby attraction include Fort Augustus, Loch Ness with monster-spotting cruises and exhibitions and trips across to the Isle of Skye.
