Risby is a village in Suffolk, located 2 miles west of Bury St. Edmunds and 10 miles from Newmarket. The Risby Barn Antique Centre on West Street is set in a 15th century thatched barn. There are 5 different companies based at the Risby Barn centre including a furniture restorer, a forge, china, glass and silverware shop, as well as a garden centre. St Giles Church is located in the middle of the village and dates back to pre-Norman times. Pubs in Risby include The Crown and Castle and The White Horse Inn. The historic market town of Bury St. Edmunds has many pubs and restaurants as well as a cinema, theatre and the Green King Brewery and visitor centre. The West Stow Country Park and Anglo-Saxon Village is an early Anglo-Saxon village that has been carefully reconstructed where it was excavated. In the Anglo-Saxon centre, objects from the original village are displayed, telling the history of this settlement and the people who lived here. The village is set in 125 acres of park and woodland. Other nearby attractions include Moyse’s Hall Museum in Cornhill, just outside Bury St Edmunds, displaying exhibits of general local and social history.
