Wickham Market is a large village positioned on the banks of the Deben River, in the county of Suffolk, and is home to just over two thousand people. This attractive village dates far back in time to the Iron Age settlers who first came here, from a small agricultural settlement it grew over time into the prosperous location seen today. A stroll around the village will uncover a collection of elegant architecture with Georgian buildings, fine timber framed houses lining the roads, and the magnificent All Saints church which is positioned at the heart of the village. The church dates back to the 13th Century and has an octagonal tower topped by a spire which rises majestically to over 137'. During the 14th and 15th Centuries the bustling market took place in the Market Square, and although the market has long since gone, visitors today will uncover a surprisingly good range of shops with a wander up Market Hill, and several restaurants to try, before heading for the welcoming pub, or the tea shop. There are a few B&B's offering a comfortable stay, or for visitors who wish to take the train, the station is unusually sited two miles away at Campsea Ashe.
