Lamlash is a pretty village positioned on the Isle of Arran which lies a few miles off the South West Coast of Scotland, and is home to just over a thousand people. It overlooks Lamlash Bay and the ancient Holy Isle where centuries ago a Monk settled in a cave, today visitors can sail from Lamlash Pier and discover the Buddhist Monks now in residence. There are attractive houses and cottages lining the roads which have an elegant feel, a legacy from fashionable tourists who arrived here in the 19th Century. There's also a handful of interesting shops to browse, a tea room, and a choice of two pubs offering a dram or two. A short stroll will uncover the mellow red sandstone church with its impressive tower which rises some 90', attractive stained glass windows which have stood the test of time, and an ancient cross which can be found nearby. Walkers and cyclists will definitely enjoy the trail between Lamlash and Kilmory, there are footpaths which journey through Glen, coast, and woodland forest, and, as it's only 4 miles from the Island's capital Brodick it's conveniently placed. For those who are tempted to stay there is a fabulous choice on offer from beach front houses, cottages, Hotel, and a Caravan Park to try.
