Cwmbran is a flourishing new town located in the Eastern Valley of South Wales. There are various attractions in the area, a Community Farm ideal for families; the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal; and a reservoir where there are activities available such as sailing and fishing. There is an Arts Centre which hosts regularly changing exhibitions; and close by is a restored 17th Century mill.

The town boasts a superb shopping centre providing over 3,000 free parking spaces. The historic market town of Pontypool is located to the north of Cwmbran. Dominated by 150 acres of Pontypool Park, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

There is a museum which documents the history of Pontypool; a folly and a grotto from which there are breathtaking views over the surrounding area of Torfaen; the longest dry ski slope in Wales is located in the Park, as well as a leisure centre and an adventure playground for children.

Nearby is a railway museum, and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal runs through the town

The small town of Blaenavon, and its surrounding landscape is now a World Heritage Site, home to a variety of attractions, including a steam railway, a canal, and museums describing the industrial heritage of the area. These attractions give an insight into living and working conditions in South Wales during the Industrial Revolution.

There is a Tourist Information Centre located at Blaenavon Ironworks, as well as offering guided tours of the Ironworks, and researching family history, the Centre provides information on days out, attractions, activities and route planning in the area.
