The unique rural village of Ewenny sits in the vale of Glamorgan just south of Bridgend, on the edge of the Ewenny River. The highlight of the village is Ewenny Priory and Church, widely regarded as one of the finest fortified religious buildings in Britain. The village is also the home of Ewenny Pottery founded in 1610. It is the oldest working pottery in Wales, run by one family for over seven generation, it has continued in its tradition of making beautiful hand thrown glazed earthenware pottery for use in the home. Close to Ewenny Priory is an area of land known as White Lady’s meadow and White Lady’s Lane. It is believed that the area was haunted by a Lady’s ghost. It is suggested this could have been in connection with her not disclosing the location of hidden treasure. There is a similarity in this story and one at Ogmore Castle. As these two locations are close to each other, it could be the same story and the same ghost. The nearby Coed-y-Bwl nature reserve established in 1971 has around a quarter of a million ‘wild’ daffodils.A Roman bridge is situated near the reserve. Perfect spots for picnics!
