Beaumaris is a beguiling town on the Isle Of Anglesey in Wales, home to over two thousand people. It's positioned near to the Menai Straight with soul pleasing views of the Snowdonia Mountains, and yet only 16 miles or so from Caernarfon. The town grew around the fabulous castle which was built in the 13th Century on the orders of Edward I, although never finished it is a magical sight of towers, surrounded by a moat, and instantly reverses the hands of time. Shopping for that special something is a treasure hunt easily rewarded with a wander down Castle Street with it's half timbered houses, restaurants, shops and bars. Elegant architecture is just one chapter in the story waiting to be told, there's a Victorian Pier, an ancient court house, and the pretty church of St Mary and St Nicholas built near the time of the castle. Green topped hills tumble down to the edge of Beaumaris Bay where colourful sails punctuate the view, if that wasn't enough the architectural masterpiece of the Menai Suspension Bridge which spans the Menai Straight can't fail to impress. Lovely beaches, unforgettable scenery, with a chance to glimpse puffins and seals is truly a wish already granted.
