Llanbedr is a small attractive village set on the banks of the Artro River, on the northwest coast of Wales, and is home to just over three hundred and fifty people. This ancient village dates as far back as the Bronze Age settlers who first came here and beyond, a legacy of which remains with the remnants of the hut circles nearby, and the impressive Standing Stones which can still be seen by visitors today rising at the mouth of the river. Agriculture and the Quarrying for slate has played an important role in the past, together with the airfield situated on the edge of the village which once played host to the RAF, and USAF Airmen during the second World War. A stroll along the pleasant lanes will uncover the interesting church which is dedicated to St Peter, parts of which dates back to the 14th Century, there's a choice of hotels, and B&B's for those visitors who wish to linger, a clutch of shops for that essential purchase and two welcoming pubs to sample. The rich green countryside of the Snowdonia National Park surrounds the village which sees a host of walkers and climbers start their ascent of the Black Mountains from here.
