The village of Trefor is to be found on the Lleyn Peninsula close to Caernarfon and Pwllheli. It is a quiet seaside village today and the pier (built around 1912) was once used to fill boats with the granite from the Eifl Quarry , The Welsh Granite Company operated the mine which was a dominant economic activity in the area. The pier today is a popular dive site for those interested in SCUBA diving and who appreciate the variety of sea life that exists in this location, whilst the harbour and a small sandy beach are close by. Nestling at the foot of Yr Elfl (this is well worth the walk to the summit for a spectacular view of Nant Gwrtheyrn) the village of Trefor is popular with families, diving, watersports and fishing enthusiasts and it provides you with an ideal base for travelling around the Lleyn Peninsula.
