Boncath lies 5 miles west of Newcastle Emlyn on the B4332. Once an intermediate stop on the rail link between Whitland and Cardigan this is now, perhaps, most famous for the quality of its hospitality. As usual, the pretty country lanes are dotted with farmhouses offering accommodation - either B& B's or campsites with good facilities such as those at The Boncath Inn (which has won the Pembrokeshire Camra Pub of the Year in both 2006 & 2007.) People come from miles around to test its reputation. In English, "Boncath" means "Buzzard” and certainly, the local countryside and its wildlife are well worth exploring. You are within easy reach of Cenarth Falls and The Coracle Centre. The Old Cilgwyn Gardens are highly recommended and there is good signage to The Woollen Museum and The Museum of Welsh Childhood. Further afield, you can visit John Fletcher's Shire Horse Farm and experience a day working with Shire horses. Gardeners will love Bromeigan Gardens and Tearooms - full of unusual plants it also claims to be so traditional that “The teapots still wear cosies” For a more substantial meal do visit the Lamb Inn at Rhos – fabulous food and very very generous portions.
