Glenluce is an ancient rural village set in a pretty valley in Dumfries and Galloway, in the South West reaches of Scotland, and is home to just over eight hundred people. It dates far back in history as the many cairns and hut circles in the area testify. It wasn't until the 12th Century however, that Glenluce came into being, after the Cistercian Monks built an Abbey here, which saw Mary Queen Of Scots, Robert The Bruce and James 1V visit here, the impressive ruins of the Chapter House, and Cloisters can still be seen today. A stroll around the village will uncover attractive stone and slate cottages, a motor museum and tempting tea shop; together with a handful of shops for that everyday purchase, and a choice of pubs serving a welcome dram or two. For those visitors who wish to stay a while there is a great choice of comfortable B&B's, Guesthouses, and nearby Caravan Parks to enjoy. Walkers will always be tempted here as it's surrounded by dramatic, beautiful Scottish countryside with a network of footpaths, the historic Pilgrims Way starts from here and journeys for fifty miles, and, as it's close to Luce Bay and the Mull of Galloway it's perfectly placed.
