The fishing village of Port St Mary enjoys a scenic location on the south-west coast of the island, looking out over Chapel Bay. Holiday- makers are drawn to the village's tranquil beauty, its sheltered, sandy beach, its narrow streets and quaint buildings, its craft fairs, and its colourful harbour, where many enjoy a relaxing moment watching the fishing boats, pleasure craft and passenger vessels going about their business. The Isle of Man Yacht Club is based in Port St Mary, which also hosts a number of popular events including the Marine Day festival, the Mannin Angling Club Festival and Lifeboat Day. Throughout the summer, boat trips take visitors on fishing and diving excursions as well as sightseeing trips to the Calf of Man island, home to a wealth of sea birds. Up on the hills overlooking the village is the nine-hole Port St Mary Golf Links, which offers superb views of the sea and surrounding countryside. The village is a great base for exhilarating walks. The cliff path leading from Port St Mary past Perwick Bay to the Calf Of Man is famous for its magnificent scenery. And returning walkers will enjoy a refreshing drink in one of the welcoming village pubs.
