St Saviour is one of the ten parishes of Guernsey, situated on the west coast of the island. This beautiful parish features the 14th century church of St Saviour, which has some of the most beautiful stained glass windows of all the Channel Island churches. Another building much visited and much photographed is the farmhouse at Le Gron, St Saviours. Featuring a light brown granite front and round arch stone doorway, it belongs to the 'small parlour' type of Guernsey farmhouse. Traditionally, this type always has seven small square windows, four upstairs and three downstairs - two one side of the front door and one the other side. For hikers and nature lovers, the Millennium Walk, which opened up around St Saviour's reservoir in 2001, offers a two mile long nature walk where you can appreciate a wide variety of flowers, birds and fish. Fishing is, of course, prohibited in this protected environment and carries heavy penalties. The reservoir itself provides the water supply for the rest of the island. St Saviour is also home to traditional crafts such as the gold and silversmith Bruce Russell and Son, who still make the traditional Guernsey silverware; and The Guernsey Woodcarvers who continue making furniture using the traditional skills of their craftsmen.
