All Stretton is to be found in the South Shropshire hills on the England /Wales border nestling between Long Mynd and Caer Caradoc which are Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is a hamlet that today remains unspoilt and the street scene reflects this unusual characteristic as there are a number of outstanding old houses scattered throughout the village. As would be expected the village has some local amenities but if you visit seeking out of town retail parks and shopping centres then you will be disappointed. Instead you are taken back through time to a place where the pace of life would be called traditional, at the heart of village life on the outskirts of All Stretton is the Village Hall where the local Am Dram Society meets and the hall plays host to WI meetings and Christmas parties. The residents of All Stretton though wouldn’t change this, for the visitor it is a pleasant stop off point in your travels through South Shropshire and where in the “local” you can be assured of a friendly welcome. The phrase “hidden gem” is often used to describe small towns and hamlets and in some instances they do not deserve this title – in the case of All Stretton this is more than justifiable.
