Kirkburton is an interesting village positioned in the county of Yorkshire, and is home to nearly four thousand people. From its humble beginnings dating as far back as the Iron Age it grew, two Hamlets emerging Kirkburton and Highburton which is positioned on a hill close by. The village was once known for the many coal mines and textile mills nearby which led to its growth and expansion over time, a walk around the village can still reveal some of the mill workers cottages which line the roads. Visitors to this semi rural location will uncover a link with the past with All Hallows church which dates back to 1190; it was built from local stone which has stood the test of time, the impressive tower rises for 78' and houses eight bells, and an attractive clock. Inside there are fabulous stained glass windows, one of which is Art Deco and was designed by Christopher Whall. There is a choice of welcoming pubs to enjoy including an 18th Century Inn in George Street, there's also a good range of shops here, and in North Road to browse, together with restaurants and cafes close by, and, as it is only five miles or so from the bustling market town of Huddersfield it is perfectly placed.
