Did you know that in 1622 the then Archbishop of Canterbury, George Abbot, while hunting at Bramshill Park near Yateley shot and killed gamekeeper Peter Hawkins with a crossbow bolt? Naturally the inquest found it was the gamekeeperís fault. After pressure from other clerics a Royal Commission investigated and equally naturally failed to reach a verdict. Youíll now find the Police Staff College at Bramhill House. Donít know why that seems apposite.
