William Williamson

Born 1816. Died 1895 - English botanist, surgeon and zoologist.
Trained in medicine. Curator of Museum of the Manchester Natural History Society from 1835-38. First to investigate plant remains in coal. Regarded as founder of modern paleo-botany.
