John Birt
Born on 10th of December 1944
Born 1944 - English television executive and controller.
Studied engineering at Oxford. Trained with Granada Television, started to produce programmes. Moved to London Weekend Television then to the BBC in 1987 as deputy director general. Became director general, stood down in 2000 and took up life peerage.
