Born 1840. Died 1922 - English poet and traveller.
First published volume of poems was Sonnets and Songs by Proteus (1875). Travelled in Near and Middle East. Stood for parliament, was imprisoned in 1888 where he wrote In Vinculis (1899). Also wrote political verse and love poems.
