First feature film was Catch Us If You Can (1965) followed by Point Blank (1965). Influenced by Arthurian legends, films often follow some of quest as in Deliverance (1972). Had commercial success with Hope and Glory (1987). Recent films include Where The Heart Is (1990) and The Tailor of Panama (2001). Awarded CBE in 1994.
