Mother Goose Treasury (1966) established reputation of eccentric comedy and won him the Kate Greenaway Medal. Works include Father Christmas (1973), Fungus the Bogeyman (1977), The Snowman (1979) and When the Wind Blows (1982). Awarded Kurt Maschler award in 1992 for The Man.
