Child singer entertaining the troops during WWII. Made film debut in Medal for the General (1944). Successful career as pop singer achieving 10 gold discs, two Grammy awards and many international hits including Downtown (1964) and My Love (1966). Stage work includes The Sound of Music, Blood Brothers and Sunset Boulevard. Awarded CBE in 1998.
