Studied classics at Girton College, Cambridge. Researcher for the Fabian Society where she met her husband. Together they wrote A Guide to Modern Politics (1934) and 29 detective stories. Her own works included The Makers of the Labour Movement (1948) and a biography of Beatrice Webb (1945).
