First stage appearance at age of ten. Became a top music-hall attraction singing comic songs and sentimental ballads. Known as “Our Gracie”. Film appearances included Sally in our Alley (1931) and Holy Matrimony (1943). Appeared in ten Command Performances (1928-1978). Created DBE in 1978.
