Born 1928 - English entertainer.

Trained as a dancer. Made debut at Theatre Royal, Bilston in 1942. Appeared in cabaret, music hall and as a comedian. Made television debut in Music Hall (1954). Became well known as compere of Sunday Night at the London Palladium (1958-60). Host of game shows including The Generation Game and Play Your Cards Right. Constant performer at Royal Command concerts and keen golfer often playing for charity. Awarded OBE in 1998.
