Daughter of John Beaufort, 1st Duke of Somerset. Imprisoned by the Yorkists during the War of the Roses. Helped Henry VIII to gain the Crown. Was a benefactress of Oxford and Cambridge universities. Founded Christ’s College and St John’s College. Patron of William Caxton.
