Born 1764 Cockermouth, Cumbria. 1793 Pitcairn Island. Naval mutineer on H.M.S. Bounty


Started off as Master's Mate on board the Bounty during William Bligh's fateful voyage to Tahiti. Seized command from Bligh on 28th April 1789, which has been made more famous by several books, films and songs. He travelled to Tahiti and married Maimiti who claimed he was murdered during conflicts between Tahitian men and mutineers but rumours have persisted for 200 years that he left the island and returned to England.
