Born 1934 – English actor.

Became a monk before going into the army and at the same time taking up acting. In 1971 played Rasputin in the film Nicholas and Alexandra. Achieved success and recognition playing the role of Doctor Who from 1974 to 1981. Cast as the narrator of Little Britain on BBC Radio 4 and in the subsequent television series. Made numerous television appearances including Blackadder, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and Monarch of the Glen.
