Made his debut fight in 1997 against Colin McAuley. Won the WBA light welterweight title in 2005. Moved up to the welterweight class and became WBA Welterweight Champion in 2006. Moved back to light welterweight and regained his title in 2007. Has competed in 42 fights without losing a bout. Awarded MBE for services to boxing in 2007.
