Studied at the Royal College of Music, London. Published two volumes of poetry Severn and Somme (1917) and War’s Embers (1919) while in hospital recovering from gassing and shell-shock. Published 5 Elizabethan Songs (1920), considered his best work. Confined to an asylum from 1922. Died of tuberculosis in the City of London Mental Hospital.
