A former barrister specialising in criminal lawyer. Was involved in the alternative comedy scene in the 1980s. Host of the improvised television comedy programme Whose Line Is It Anyway? Has appeared on Have I Got News For You? And QI. As a comedy sketch writer, has written for Frankie Howerd and Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones.
