Selected as Conservative candidate for London mayoral election in 2000 but had to withdraw due to charge of perjury. Hugely successful author, his books including Not A Penny, Not A Penny Less (1976), Kane & Abel (1979), First Among Equals (1984) and Honour Among Thieves (1993).
